Tools for Writers

Shaper of Stone - Open Book

There is a new link at the top of the web site.  The link, Writing Tools, is my way of sharing much of the help that I received when I first started working on Shaper of Stone.  It documents some of the things I learned about writing my novel in OpenOffice and what I found to the best way to format it so that it was easy to produce the different file layouts I needed for publishing.

It even covers the steps I used to produce my cover. While the example uses different images and textures, the techniques are the identical.

This is, and probably always will be, a work in progress. As I learn new things, I’ll do my best to document the steps that I followed. The next addition to this section of the web site will cover taking the manuscript from OpenOffice, converting it to HTML and then submitting it along with the cover to Amazon’s KDP program.

I don’t claim to be an expert on any of the tools I’m using.  There may be different ways to doing some of the things that I’ve described. There may even be better ways.  My goal is to make sure that at least one method is documented.

I hope you find it useful.
